Allen Creek soccer fields to be named for late Hall parks director

In honor of a man who devoted more than two decades to Hall County Parks and Leisure, the county will name the fields at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex in honor of Mike Little.

HALL COUNTY GOVERNMENT NEWS RELEASE:

““Mike Little Day” will include a celebration of Little’s life on Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the soccer complex, where Little was first hired in 2001 before taking over as Director of Parks and Leisure nearly a decade later, and later serving as Director of Parks & Community Services. Little (pictured) passed away suddenly in 2022 at the age of 58.

“Mike leaves behind an incredible legacy here in Hall County. If you visit our parks, you can still see the impact he left behind, from his dedicated efforts to revitalize Tadmore Park in East Hall to his vision for the scenic trails at Cherokee Bluffs in South Hall to his passion for soccer at Allen Creek,” said Hall County Board of Commissioners Chairman Richard Higgins.

The festivities will include the celebration of new signage, signifying “Mike Little Fields at Allen Creek Soccer Complex” at the entrance to the park. The day’s events will also include a dedication ceremony, the unveiling of the memorial plaque placed in Little’s honor adjacent to Field 1, along with giveaways, bounce houses, food vendors and more.

“We know how important the sport of soccer was to Mike, and we couldn’t think of a better way to honor him than giving our local kids an enjoyable day against the backdrop of youth soccer games,” said Brent Holloway, Hall County Parks and Community Services Director.”
