Police are conducting a manhunt in downtown Gainesville after an SUV crashed on West Academy Street this afternoon.
“Single vehicle crash, subjects fled on foot,” Gainesville police spokesman Kevin Holbrook wrote in an email shortly after 4:00, without releasing any other information.
Meanwhile, social media is alive with comments on what happened from people who say they witnessed the crash:
“People in the Explorer got out and ran.”
“…they hit my son and his fiance and took off running.”
“Might be a stolen car.”
“I hope they find them.”
“That’s crazy! Seems to be happening more And more these days.”
