*A 40-year-old woman was arrested Sunday by Gainesville Police, charged in a nearly $1,000 shoplifting case. Teresa Maria Shatto is also facing a drug charge, according to authorities. “Arrested for shoplifting at Walmart, did take misc items to include a bike, total value $800,” police spokesman Kevin Holbrook wrote in an email. “Upon arrest did find 3.61 grams of suspected methamphetamine on person.”
*Gainesville Police are also investigating an online romance scam that cost a 62-year-old Gainesville woman $10,000, according to the victim. “Relationship scam, met guy online approximately two years ago, had been sending money to him,” Capt. Holbrook said in an email.
