Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators recently charged a 70-year-old Gainesville man with rape and aggravated sexual battery in an investigation that began late last year into alleged crimes committed over a seven-year period.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“…Warrant Service Unit deputies arrested Rafael Acevedo…on Thursday morning…at his residence in the 3800 block of James Ed Road. Investigators then interviewed Acevedo at HCSO Headquarters before he was transported to the Hall County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
According to the preliminary investigation, Acevedo committed the crimes against the female victim at his residence on several occasions during a seven-year period beginning in 2011. The victim was under the age of ten at the time. Acevedo knew her.
The abuse was first reported to the deputies on Oct. 3, 2025. A school counselor informed a school resource officer after the victim disclosed it.
The case remains under investigation.”
