Area lawmakers named to Committee on the Protection of Women’s Sports

Lt. Governor Burt Jones has announced the creation of the Georgia Senate Special Committee on the Protection of Women’s Sports. Lawmakers from Cumming, Buford, and Cornelia are among those named to the panel

“My priority is to ensure that female athletes across Georgia have the right to compete on a fair and level playing field, and I will not waver on this effort,” Jones said.  

The committee was created during this year’s state legislative session. The members are:

Senator Greg Dolezal (R – Cumming), (who will serve as Chairman)(pictured)

Senator Jason Anavitarte (R – Dallas), Senate Majority Caucus Chairman

Senator Clint Dixon (R – Buford), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education and Youth

Senator Bo Hatchett (R – Cornelia), Governor’s Floor Leader

Senator Billy Hickman (R – Statesboro), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Higher Education

Senator Freddie Powell Sims (D – Dawson)

Senator Sheikh Rahman (D – Lawrenceville)

Senator Blake Tillery (R – Vidalia), Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee
