19-yr-old free on bond after street racing arrest

A 19-year-old Gainesville man, Michel Betsaleel, is free on $1,690 bond following his arrest early Saturday morning on a street racing charge.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:

“(Betsaleel was arrested) at a location on Browns Bridge Road after a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy observed him traveling at a high rate of speed and attempting to race another vehicle.

Just before 3:45 a.m., the HCSO deputy observed Mr. Betsaleel traveling eastbound on Browns Bridge Road near Murphy Boulevard at an estimated speed of 70 mph in a 35 mph speed zone. The suspect was attempting to race a second vehicle in a contest for speed and operating his vehicle in a reckless manner. The deputy was able to stop Mr. Betsaleel a short distance away in the area of Skelton Road. The second driver fled down a side street and was not apprehended.

As a result, Mr. Betsaleel was charged with speeding, racing on highway or streets, reckless driving and driving with a learner’s permit…”
