19-year-old charged in fatal traffic accident

A 19-year-old Gainesville man has been charged in the death of a 35-yer-old who died as the result of a traffic accident on the city’s southside a week ago.

Gainesville Police spokesman Kevin Holbrook says Jose Ruben Acosta Turcios “was driving reckless (when he crashed) on Aviation Boulevard. “Turcios was driving a 2010 Infiniti G37 at a high rate of speed on April 24, 2025, when he lost control, striking multiple fixed objects and flipped, killing his passenger,” 35-year-old Paquito Turcios Galvez.

Holbrook added “Turcios did willfully hinder the investigation by fabricating information surrounding the details of the crash. Turcios is charged with homicide by vehicle, obstruction, reckless driving, racing, failure to maintain lane, too fast for conditions and driving on the wrong side of the road.”

Hall County Jail records show was booked Tuesday and is being held without bond.
