A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 at Williams Mill Greenspace in Flowery Branch to celebrate the completion of the Friendship Road sewer extension project.
“We broke ground on this project in April 2023, so I am excited to officially cut the ribbon on a project that serves thousands of existing residents and businesses, as well as provides infrastructure that will support the continued growth in South Hall,” District 1 Commissioner Kathy Cooper said.
The sewer extension includes an additional 5.2 miles of sewer lines, incorporating 3.2 miles of gravity lines and 2.0 miles of force main lines traveling along the Friendship Road corridor. These sewer lines serve the Mitchell Creek Basin area along the Hall County and Gwinnett County line.
“This project was a huge undertaking for the County and serves as a testimony to the Board of Commissioners’ vision to plan for the future of our community while increasing and enhancing our local government services,” Cooper said.
The ceremony, which will be held at 6166 Blackjack Road overlooking the park’s shoals, is open to the public. A shuttle service will be provided for those who may need assistance getting to the ceremony location.
The budget for the Friendship Road sewer extension project was $13.9 million and was funded by Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VIII and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
