Two metro Atlanta men were arrested recently following a lengthy police chase in Forsyth County during which the driver successfully avoided several attempts by sheriff’s deputies to stop them. And when it was over, they were facing more than a dozen charges.
It began in the early morning when a deputy saw a car that was weaving from one lane to another and made an attempt to stop it. But the driver would not give up.
Instead, he turned into a subdivision off of Windermere Drive, where the first PIT maneuver was used in an attempt to stop his car, but it was unsuccessful due to low speeds, according to the sheriff’s office.
The car was eventually pinned by three deputies, and the occupants were taken into custody, taken to a hospital for evaluation and then the Forsyth County Jail.
The passenger, 27-year-old Meesan Abbas, had an outstanding warrant in Gwinnett County. The driver, 25-year-old Hussein Zirjawi, was charged with DUI, felony fleeing, reckless driving, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and a long list of traffic charges.
The sheriff’s office provided a video of the chase which was taken from one of the deputy’s car:
