Young man attempting enrollment at Hall, Gwinnett schools arrested

The young man whose attempts to enroll at West Hall High School (WHSS) and a high school in Gwinnett, Dongha Lee, raised alarm at both schools was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Flowery Branch by sheriff’s deputies not long after they had been called there by Lee himself.

Lee, 18, a South Korean national, was arrested at a residence in the 600 block of Laurel Wood Trail and remained in the Hall County Jail at mid-morning Thursday on an immigration hold as well as a hold for Gwinnett County.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“Lee had called 911 (Tuesday) to report alleged threats he had received related to news coverage of his visit to Seckinger High School in Gwinnett County last week.

The deputies who responded were aware of Mr. Lee’s presence at West Hall High School (WHHS) earlier in the day. As a result of the incident at WHHS, deputies issued a criminal trespass warning to Mr. Lee, barring him from visiting any Hall County School properties. He was not arrested.

Agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) confirmed that Mr. Lee is in the United States on a 90-day tourist visa, which is valid through May.”
