Work release inmate back in jail after removing his ankle monitor

A 30-year-old Gainesville man is being held without bond after the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) says he removed his ankle monitor. Don William Davis was a work release inmate at the time.

HCSO spokesman Derreck Booth said Tuesday that around 2:00 Friday afternoon deputies got word that Davis had removed the device.

“Deputies responded to Davis’ last known location in the 2600 block of Ga. 60/Candler Road,” Booth said. “Deputies located the monitor, but Davis was not in the area.” However, about an hour later, Warrant Service Unit deputies located him in the Jesse Jewell Parkway/Limestone Parkway area.

Davis, who was in jail for misdemeanor probation violation and a Superior Court arrest order, faces additional charges of interference with electronic monitoring and escape.
