Work beginning on upgrade to major west Gville intersection

Orange barrels and “Road Work” signs are in place – a sign that work is beginning on adding new lanes to the McEver Road/ Browns Bridge Road intersection. The project also involves extending the length of other lanes.

“This is a project that is intended to improve turn queuing and delays during peak traffic times at this intersection,” Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) spokeswoman Elizabeth Johnson reminded us Wednesday. “The project would provide northbound and southbound dual left turn lanes on State Route 53/ Mc Ever Road. The project also would extend SR 369 westbound left turn lanes 100 feet and extend the eastbound outside through lane to allow for adequate space prior to merging into one eastbound lane.”

The start of construction is typically signaled by the placement of the construction barriers and road work signs, Johnson added.
