Woman’s credit line account tapped for $35K in purchases

A Hall County woman says someone accessed her credit line account running up a bill of more than $30,000 in about 12 hours.

“The complainant filed an online report indicating someone had hacked her credit line account and had used it for shopping,” Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) spokeswoman B.J. Williams said Friday morning. “A total of $35,000 had been transferred out of the account.”

Williams added, the report has been assigned to an investigator.

According to the victim, the transactions occurred between 1:00 p.m. and midnight on June 28. She reported what happened to the sheriff’s office Thursday.
