A woman who was spotted sitting on an interstate overpass railing was pulled to safety Wednesday by two Oakwood police officers.
Oakwood Police Chief Tim Hatch said Thursday morning the incident happened on the Plainview Road bridge over I-985.
“An (officer) driving and came upon a female subject sitting on the rail of the Plainview Road overpass, and on the far side of the rail. The Sergeant notified dispatch and requested assistance.”
The officer was able to grab the woman from behind and pull her to safety with the help of another officer who had responded to his call for help.
Chief Hatch said the woman was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Oakwood Police Chief Tim Hatch says it happened about 7:00. “The call occurred in the (county’s jurisdiction) but we were dispatched since we had units that were closer,” Hatch added. “The incident was resolved and the person that was threatening to jump was taken for an evaluation without further incident.”
