The driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Lumpkin County Tuesday night was still at large at last check. It happened about 9:30 near Garnett School and Cavender Creek roads.
Carolyn Chambers was taken to the hospital in Dahlonega where she later died, according to the state patrol.
Troopers say Chambers was walking on the grassy right side of Cavender Creek Road when a gray or silver pickup moved to that side of the road and hit her.
