Woman jailed on 11 counts of cruelty to animals

A 38-year-old woman was being held in the Hall County Jail on bonds totaling $7,150 Wednesday night after being arrested on eleven counts of cruelty to animals. Jessica Marie Jensen is also charged with probation violation.

Hall County spokeswoman Joy Holmes said Wednesday the case against Jensen grew out of a visit by county animal control officers Feb. 16 to the 4000 block of Flat Creek Drive.

“Our Animal Control officer noticed three to four dogs on the loose,” Holmes said. “While attempting to issue the owner of the dogs a citation at her residence, it was discovered that she had active warrants out of Hall County.”

Once Hall County sheriff’s deputies arrived to assist with warrants, officers noticed poor living conditions inside the residence and eight dogs and one cat were removed from the house, Holmes added. “The suspect was arrested on the scene and transported to the Hall County Jail, and additional charges have been filed by Hall County Animal Control.”

Holmes also said the case remains under investigation.
