A Gainesville woman was charged with trafficking methamphetamine after Hall County
Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) narcotics investigators seized more than a kilo of meth from her
apartment off Cleveland Highway. HCSO
HCSO NEWS RELEASE:
“Special Investigations Unit (SIU) investigators detained Kernicia Trenae James, 33,
Monday afternoon on the property of Ridgecrest Apartments. At the time,
investigators were on their way to James’s apartment to execute a search warrant. They
obtained the warrant after learning that James was selling illegal narcotics from her
apartment.
During the search of the residence, investigators located a large quantity of
methamphetamine (1,040 grams), more than $18,000 in cash, drug paraphernalia and a
12-gauge assault shotgun. In addition, James had on her person two (2) ounces of meth and
$2,000 in cash. The total estimated street value of the illegal narcotics is $77,000.
Following the search, investigators arrested James on a single felony count of trafficking in
methamphetamine. She is in custody at the Hall County Jail without bond.
James’s arrest came as part of a long-term drug investigation involving HCSO, the Banks
County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Safe Streets Task
Force.”
