When Gainesville city councilman George Wangemann leaves office Dec. 31 the council will be short one member. But for how long?
That remains to be seen.
The vacancy will not be filled until a special election can be held, according to city hall spokeswoman Christina Santee.
Wangemann announced his plans to step down at Tuesday night’s city council meeting, citing his declining health as the reason.
