Winder Police charge 3 in ‘attempted’ drive-by shooting

Winder Police have made two arrests and have charged a third suspect, who is still at-large, in connection with “what they are calling “an attempted” drive-by shooting that occurred last month.

Officers responded to a 911 call April 24 regarding shots being fired at the Shell gas station located at 125 East Midland Avenue in Winder. The call came out around 7:30 p.m.

Officers were able to recover several shell casings along with a “suspected bullet” that impacted near the gas pumps.

Further investigation by Winder Police detectives led to the identification of the suspect vehicle, as well as three suspects connected to the vehicle. 20-year-old Avonte Rogers of Statham, 22-year-old Tatianna Wilbon of Athens and 23-year-old Brayson Hayes of Statham have all been charged with Aggravated Assault. Avonte Rogers and Brayson Hayes were charged with an additional charge of Reckless Conduct. Rogers and Wilbon have been taken into custody. Hayes is still wanted at this time.

No other details were released, and police said Friday none will be released at this time.
