Winder groundbreaking; Lanier Tech alum, students in the pits

*A groundbreaking is planned Thursday for a $20 million addition to the city of Winder’s water treatment plant. Winder spokeswoman Katie Strickland says the project will increase the output of drinking water from 6.2 million gallons a day (MGD) to 9.2 MGD. Strickland adds the additional capacity is “vital” because the Winder-Auburn reservoir project is slated to come online within the next five years.

*Lanier Tech’s Motorsports Vehicle Technology (MVT) program was well-represented when the IMSA season kicked off recent with the Roar and Rolex 24 Hour races at Daytona Beach. At least ten MVT alumni or students were in the pits as team pit crew members.
