Wind Chill Advisory; Ga. now virtually drought-free; no injuries in E. Hall truck accident

*A Wind Chill Advisory has been posted for parts of north and central Georgia, including Hall and surrounding counties. The National Weather Service (NWS) says “very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as zero” from 11:00 tonight through 11:00 Saturday morning. Peachtree City, GA (weather.gov)

*After several months an increasingly worse drought, Georgia is now practically drought-free. This week’s report from the U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) reflects the torrential rainfalls much of the state received a couple of weeks ago. It shows that about 75 percent of the state is drought-free. However, drought conditions linger in most of northeast and northwest Georgia, including Hall County. *The state patrol says its investigation into that chicken truck accident Wednesday that shut down a busy East Hall intersection for several hours was caused when the driver made an improper turn. That, the investigating trooper’s report says, caused “the right rear wheels of the trailer to leave the roadway before overturning.” The accident happened at Old Cornelia Highway and Lula Road. There were no injuries.
