Wind advisory UPDATED; Rotary awards; Apartment fire displaces 14

“The area that was covered by the Wind Advisory that was issued Monday night has been revised and now includes only Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, White counties. Wind gusts of 40-45 mph are possible. The National Weather Service says with saturated soils there is a higher potential for the gusty winds to down trees and cause some power outages. The advisory is in effect until 1:00 this afternoon.

*Jack Baily was named Man of the Year at the Rotary Club of Gainesville’s annual banquet Monday night. Phillippa Moss was named Woman of the Year.

*Fourteen people were displaced by a fire at a Suwanee apartment complex Monday morning. The blaze occurred at The Residences on McGinnis Ferry. A Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman said there were no injuries but that six units were damaged.
