Wellstar and Stephens County Hospital have reached an agreement for the hospital to become part of the Wellstar Health System. The transaction is expected to be completed toward the end of the year, pending the conclusion of regulatory approvals. The 96-bed Toccoa hospital opened nearly 90 years ago.
Wellstar and Stephens County Hospital already share a relationship through their tele-stroke program, which provides access to advanced regional stroke and surgical capabilities.
Wellstar recently announced plans to acquire another northeast Georgia hospital: Mountain Lakes Medical Center in Rabun County.
