Well, that’s one way to try to get rid of the evidence…

A 37-year-old man, Jarquis Martez Thomas, is free on bond following his arrest Thursday morning in west Gainesville on a charge of tampering with evidence. Gainesville Police spokeswoman Jessica Van says it happened about 10:45.

“This stems from a suspicious vehicle behind a business,” Lt. Van said. “The officer noticed a vehicle going to the back of a business while he was in the area backing another officer up on a call.

“During the investigation, the officer recognized marijuana in the vehicle. Shortly after, Jarquis allegedly ingested a bottle containing marijuana.”

Van added that this took place in the 400 block of Shallowford Road.

A spokesman for the Hall County Jail says Duncan was freed on a $1,300 bond this morning.
