A 27-year-old Gainesville man remained in the Hall County Jail Wednesday afternoon without bond following his arrest Tuesday by Oakwood Police after reportedly using fake money for a purchase at Cricket Wireless on Mundy Mill Road. And it was not the first time Gonser Menshan, who has been banned from Walmart because of previous thefts, has been arrested by Oakwood authorities.
“The manager stated that Gonser Mensahn came into the store at approximately 1758 hours on 08/31/2026 and purchased a silver iPhone 17 Pro Max utilizing fake $100 bills ($1400 in total),” Oakwood Det. Lt. Stewart Webb said in an email Wednesday. “The money was later identified a Motion Picture Prop Money.”
Webb said officers were able to identify Mensahn by surveillance camera footage and a receipt for the purchase. “He has an extensive history with the Oakwood Police Department and his identity was immediately confirmed. Mr. Menshaw was later located and arrested for the Forgery warrant.”
