Weekend chase ends with Gainesville man in jail

A 47-year-old Gainesville man remained in the Hall County Jail early Monday in lieu of bonds totaling $18,560 following a weekend chase with Flowery Branch Police.

GEORGIA STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“(About midnight Saturday) a Trooper from the Gainesville Post responded to investigate a traffic crash on I-985 near Spout Springs Road.

Flowery Branch PD attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2008 Lincoln pickup truck for Reckless Driving and possible DUI on I-985 NB at mile marker 12. The driver of this vehicle failed to yield to emergency equipment initiating a pursuit.

Flowery Branch PD performed a PIT maneuver on this vehicle at mile marker 13, striking the rear right bumper of the pickup truck with the front left bumper of his vehicle. The pickup truck then exited the roadway to the right and came to an uncontrolled final rest on the east shoulder of I-985. The Flowery Branch patrol vehicle slid off the roadway to the left and struck the center cable barrier with the rear left bumper.

The driver of this pick-up truck was identified as Mr. Tyrone Young, 47, of Gainesville. Mr. Young was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for the treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.”
