For the first time since September, more than a trace of rain was recorded Thursday in Gainesville.
The showers started about midnight, according to data collected by the National Weather Service (NWS) at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport, but most of it fell before noon. According to the NWS, 1.24 inches fell between midnight and late morning. That’s about what forecasters had predicted.
Like most of Georgia, since the start of fall rain has been scarce in Gainesville.
