Weather keeping power, road crews busy

The continued windy weather is keeping road and power crews across north Georgia busy.

In Habersham County, for instance, Habersham EMC linemen worked through the Thursday night restoring power across the electric co-op’s service area – covering all or parts of Hall, Habersham, Lumpkin, White, Rabun and Stephens counties – and their work continued after daybreak.

“We will continue to work hard until all members are restored,” the EMC said in a Facebook posting. “Thank you for your patience (and) understanding.”

Metro Atlanta appeared especially hard hit – trees uprooted (some crashing into homes and cars), power outages and roads blocked by downed trees and other debris.

For a Clayton County family, it was terrifying when a large tree crashed onto a home and into the bedroom of a teenager just after midnight. The daughter described the experience as surreal.
