A White County man, Christopher James Crocker, has been arrested and charged with breaking into the cafeteria at Tesnatee Gap Elementary School early Sunday and stealing $30.
White County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) investigators, who were called to the school Monday morning after the theft was discovered, were able to get a description of the burglar and his getaway vehicle – a blue and black bicycle – from security tape.
Officers then began canvassing the area, looking for the thief and/or his bicycle and soon located a bike matching the description of the one used in the burglary at a nearby house. Inside the house, they found evidence linking Crocker to the crime, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators also found evidence that he had also broken into the nearby White County High School Sports Complex concession stand that same morning but a news release announcing his arrest did not mention that anything had been taken there.
