Water-related accidents and other incidents investigated by state and local authorities have been few so far this holiday weekend, according to the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
A report issued a mid-morning Sunday shows that statewide there have been one fatality and only two BUIs though another BUI was booked into the Hall County Jail early Sunday.
The fatality involved a drowning Saturday at Lake Lanier (pictured). (EARLIE R STORY. POSTED AT 7:30 SATURDAY NIGHT: Metro Atlanta man drowns in Lanier (wgtjradio.com)
The DNR report which covers activity Saturday midnight-to-midnight also includes a boating accident that occurred at Tybee Island involving two personal watercraft (PWC) that collided. However, there were no injuries.
As for BUIs, only two are being reported by DNR – one on Lake Hartwell and one on Lake Jackson. Again, these figures are for Saturday. However, Hall County Jail records show a 26-year-old man was booked about 1:00 Sunday morning, charged with BUI and operating a boat without lights after dark.
