Winder and Barrow County have joined a growing list of places in Georgia instituting water conservation measures in light of the worsening drought.
Winder officials issued a plea Friday for all of its water customers to conserve water usage and adhere to an odd-even watering schedule announced early by the county.
WINDER NEWS RELEASE:
“This measure is essential to ensure the sustainable use of our water resources, especially during periods of high demand.
Residents with odd-numbered addresses are asked to water on odd-numbered days, while those with even-numbered addresses should water on even-numbered days.
This request is in concert with Barrow County’s request for conservation and mindful water usage.
We are asking everyone to follow the County’s odd-even outdoor watering schedule:
🌱 Odd-numbered addresses: Water on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays between 12:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
🌱 Even-numbered addresses: Water on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays between 12:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Drip irrigation, hand watering, and watering of food gardens are permitted on any day and at any time…”
