Vietnam memorial to visit Dahlonega; UNG police dept. recognized by state group; longtime S. Hall diner closing

*The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) has announced The Wall That Heals national tour schedule for 2024. The Wall That Heals exhibit includes a three- quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial along with a mobile Education Center. It will make 33 stops around the country this year and will be in Dahlonega for four days starting Oct. 31.

*The University of North Georgia Department of Public Safety has, for the second straight year, earned first place in the annual Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Governor’s Challenge program in the colleges and universities category.  The program highlights outstanding achievements in highway safety enforcement and education. 

*After nearly 50 years in business, a landmark South Hall eatery, Nichols Diner, is closing. A Facebook posting by the owners says Feb. 3 will be “our last day for business. It’s been a joy to work and serve our community for 40 years.”
