‘Very concerning.’ One minister’s take on a Banks Co. missing persons case

It’s now been a month since a 60-year-old Banks County woman disappeared from her home and though there have been no clues as to her whereabouts, one minister is doing his part to keep the case on the minds of people.

“Banks County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to request the public’s assistance in locating Marie Campbell,” the sheriff’s office says in its latest statement on the case. “This remains an active investigation. Her last known location has been narrowed down to Bennett Road on Monday, January 6, 2025.”

Campbell was wearing a dark plaid shirt, dark pants, and dark shoes. She has brown eyes and brown hair, 62 years old, 5’7″ tall, weighs 170 pounds.

“If you have any information regarding this case, please call Investigator Alford,” the statement continues. “You can choose to remain anonymous. Investigator Alford can be reached at (706) 949-6668 or by email at [email protected]. In case of an emergency, please dial 911.”

Meanwhile, Fletcher Law, the pastor Campbell’s church, Homer Methodist, is doing what he can to make sure the case isn’t forgotten.

“It’s very concerning,” Fletcher Law said Friday of Campbell’s disappearance and the lack of any clues in the case. “I call her sister two or more times a week and no new news.” And motorists passing his church are reminded of the case on the marquee in front of it.

And Law is no Johnny-come-lately to the cause, posting on the church’s Facebook page four days after Campbell disappeared: “URGENT PRAYER NEEDED: All friends please pray for finding Marie. She’s a sweet soul that often worshipped with us at Homer Methodist Church.”
