UPDATE: Woman hit by train suffers ‘severe’ leg injury

Just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, Hall County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a location on Industrial Boulevard and Dorsey Street to investigate an accident involving a pedestrian and a train.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“When deputies arrived, medical personnel were already on the scene providing aid to the female victim who had suffered what appeared to be a severe injury to her left leg. The victim, later identified as Gina Valeria Alvarez, 39, was transported to the hospital for treatment. Alvarez has a Talmo address.

The initial investigation determined Ms. Alvarez was walking along the tracks near the intersection of Industrial Boulevard and Dorsey Street as a train approached. The train engineer saw Ms. Alvarez and sounded the horn, but she did not move from the tracks, and she was struck by the right front corner of the train.

Ms. Alvarez remains hospitalized at last report.”
