A 17-year-old from Gainesville was arrested last week by Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators who recently obtained warrants charging him in a child molestation/aggravated sexual battery investigation that began late last year.

Investigators took Daniel Hilario, 17, into custody at HCSO Headquarters on Friday afternoon, Feb. 16, on the following charges, all related to the same juvenile victim.

  • Child molestation (felony)
  • Aggravated sexual battery (felony)
  • Aggravated assault (felony)
  • Enticing a child for indecent purposes (felony)
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime (felony)
  • Pointing gun/pistol at another (misdemeanor)
  • Contributing to the delinquency of a minor (misdemeanor)
  • Interference with custody (misdemeanor)

According to the preliminary investigation, Hilario met the victim on social media in August, and while giving her a ride, he pointed a handgun at her, resulting in the charges of pointing a gun/pistol at another.

The sexual abuse and other crimes occurred between 10 p.m. on Sept. 1 and 1 a.m. on Sept. 2, in Hilario’s pickup truck in a parking lot in the 4000 block of GA 60 North/Thompson Bridge Road.

The incidents were reported to deputies on Nov. 9, when the victim disclosed them to a trusted adult.

Hilario is being held in the Hall County Jail without bond. The case remains under investigation.”
