Investigators believe they have identified the remains of the two people whose bodies were found recently on Mt. Yonah. However, while confirming that it’s a man and a woman, they are not releasing any names in hopes that dental records will lead to positive identifications.
“The deceased were not residents of White County,” sheriff Rick Kelley said Tuesday. “We were able to determine the bodies were on the mountain for several weeks and the facts in this case, including evidence collected at the scene, suggest the couple went up the mountain with the intention of never coming back down.”
Kelly added “autopsies were conducted this morning, and results are pending so we have no further information to share at this time. This case remains very active and is ongoing.”
