UPDATE: Details on accident that caused Saturday’s westside power outage

The state patrol says the traffic accident early Saturday that caused a power outage in west Gainesville in the Cronic Drive/Dixie Drive/Browns Bridge Road area involved a pickup that hit a utility pole.

A report released late Saturday says the truck was rounding a curve on Cronic Drive when it traveled onto the shoulder. It then spun out of control across the road where it struck the pole and overturned. The state patrol says when law enforcement officers arrived there was no one in or around the vehicle.

It was several hours before power was restored.
