UPDATE: Clarks Bridge Rd. weekend accident was DUI-related

The state patrol said Monday the crash, which resulted in an hours-long power outage in the Clermont area, occurred when a 22-year-old Gainesville woman lost control of her pickup and it left the road.

Troopers said the truck hit a mailbox, utility pole and flower planter before finally coming to a stop. The accident happened about 6:15 Saturday night on Clarks Bridge Road near the Georgia 52 intersection. The driver, the patrol report said, was slightly injured and has been charged with Failure to Maintain Lane and DUI.

EARLIER STORY (POSTED EARLY SATURDAY EVENING):

Details are sketchy, but a traffic accident in North Hall closed a part of Clarks Bridge Saturday night.

It happened “in the area of the 5400 block, just north of its intersection with Ga. 52,” according to a Hall County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Alert.

There were no injuries, but a powerline was down, and power was off in the area for a time.
