UPDATE: Chase suspect facing kidnapping, 10 other charges


A Baldwin man was arrested after leading Habersham County sheriff’s deputies
and other officers on a chase just after 7:30 Thursday night. A deputy attempted to pull over a pickup on Central Avenue in Demorest after reportedly observing a traffic violation.

HABERSHAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE:

“The driver of the truck initially pulled over into a Piedmont University parking lot along
Central Avenue across from the main campus then fled, initiating a pursuit.
Deputies pursued the vehicle down Central Avenue / Historic Highway 441 onto Ga. 365
then onto 441 Bypass in Cornelia, ending it with a PIT maneuver that brought the truck
to a stop near Baldwin Road Connector and Georgia Power Co.

There were no injuries and the driver, 25-year-old Noe Jordy Rodriguez Jr., was arrested
at the scene.

Rodriguez is charged with kidnapping, possession of marijuana, possession with intent to
distribute, possession of a firearm or knife during certain crimes, fleeing or attempting
to elude, false imprisonment under the Family Violence Act, interference with
government property, and misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, reckless
driving, window tint violation, and taillights / taillight lenses required.

The kidnapping and false imprisonment FVA remain under investigation.

The incident closed the southbound lanes of 441 Bypass for a time, fully reopening at
8:54 p.m.”
