UPDATE: Charges now likely in child's death at Mall of Ga.

Charges are now expected to be filed in the death OF a young girl who was hit by a car at the Mall of Georgia.

Four-year-old Abigail Hernandez was killed, and two family members were injured in the parking lot outside the Buford mall a month ago.

Gwinnett County police stated earlier this week that they didn’t plan on charging the 18-year-old driver.

The district attorney said Tuesday, though, that her office is continuing the investigation and will likely file misdemeanor charges.

He is the recipient of many Associated Press awards and is a former judge of state and national Associated Press broadcast news contests. In 2005, he was presented with the Georgia Associated Press Broadcasters Association’s President’s Award for Excellence in Journalism and in 2019 was inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame.

He lives in Gainesville with his wife of 52 years, the former Sandra McKnight of Clio, Alabama, and they have one child, a daughter, Lisa, who lives in Cumming with her family.
