UPDATE #2: Overnight mobile home park fire blamed on fire pit

The overnight Tuesday fire that destroyed two mobile homes and damaged four others was “accidental”, and a fire pit that had been in use just hours earlier is to blame, the Hall County Fire Marshal has ruled.

That finding prompted these words of caution from the fire marshal: “If conducting any recreational burning, please follow all guidelines as outlined by the Hall County burn regulations listed on the Hall County website. This includes maintaining a water source nearby, fully extinguishing the flames and embers before leaving the area. Ensure you keep the burn pit a safe distance from structures or wood lines and never leave it unattended.”

The fire occurred about midnight at Countryside Village in South Hall and left nine people homeless, while damaging several vehicles, as well.
