Two-week dry spell may be ending

After nearly two weeks with no precipitation, rainfall is expected to return to north Georgia this weekend.

“Although models are currently pointing towards Sunday as the wettest day, timing still remains uncertain,” the weather service said in its latest advisory Wednesday morning. “With high moisture content likely, heavy rainfall would be a concern.”

The chances of rain in the Gainesville area Sunday ranges from 45% in the early morning hours to 70% by midday.
