Two youngsters are recovering from injuries received in a weekend traffic accident north of Gainesville.
GEORGIA STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:
“On Sunday, March 9, at 6:04 PM, a trooper from the Gainesville post of the Georgia State Patrol responded to the area of SR 11 (Cleveland Hwy) at SR 254 (Old Cleveland Rd), near the White County line, to investigate a two-vehicle collision with injuries.
Upon investigation, it was determined that a Dodge Durango, driven by Jesus Salas, 30, of Gainesville, was traveling south on SR 11 (Cleveland Hwy). A Honda Pilot, driven by Shelbie Jackson, 34, of Cleveland had turned right from Old Cleveland Rd and began proceeding south on Cleveland Hwy. The Pilot traveled approximately 170 feet then stopped to yield to traffic attempting to turn left into the Texaco Gas Station located at 6822 Cleveland Hwy. Mr. Salas was following too closely and struck the rear of the Pilot with the front of the Durango.
Hall County EMS transported a 10-year-old passenger in the Durango for treatment of visible injuries and a 9-year-old passenger in the Pilot for a complaint of injury. There were two other passengers in the Pilot that were uninjured.
Mr. Salas was issued a written warning for following too closely.”
