Tuesday roundup: Braves, NFL, Falcons, United

(GA. NEWS NETWORK)

The Braves settled for a split against the Phillies after getting shut out 1-0 from Philly Monday. Matt Olson tallied one of the team’s two hits. Atlanta has dropped two-of-three and will host Tampa tonight.

Week One of the NFL season kicks off tomorrow night. A Super Bowl rematch takes place in Seattle between the Seahawks and Patriots. Elsewhere, the Falcons visit the Steelers on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. says he’s not yet 100-percent recovered from a torn ACL. Speaking yesterday after Tua Tagovailoa was named the Week One starter, Penix said he wants to be stronger and have no doubt that his knee will hold up. The 26-year-old will be inactive for the Falcons when they visit the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. Cooper Rush will be Tagovailoa’s backup.

Atlanta United is back in action when they host Orlando City tomorrow at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
