UPDATE: Flood Watch Extended; Trump endorsement; recall of ‘potentially life-threatening’ cough syrup

*So far, Hall County officials are reporting no problems associated with today’s rain but remind us that more is on its way. As of 3:00 this afternoon, 2.49 inches had been recorded at the Gainesville airport but some backyard rain gauges in other parts of the county were showing around 3.25 inches. Some forecasters say as much as 4-5 inches may fall before the rain ends on Saturday. A Flood Watch remains in effect for Hall County and much of the rest of north Georgia and has been extended through Saturday night. In addition, the area covered by the watch has been expanded to include more counties, including Habersham, Jackson and Barrow. Peachtree City, GA (weather.gov)

*The Hall County Republican Party has endorsed former President Donald Trump in his quest for another term in the office, calling him “the clear choice” across the country and “in our state.” The endorsement comes on the heels of Trump’s decisive victories in the Iowa Caucuses and the New Hampshire Primary and declares that it’s time for Republicans to “come together and unite to defeat Joe Biden and win the White House in 2024.”

*The makers of Robitussin Cough Syrup have issued a recall of certain lots of the product because of “potentially life-threatening” contamination. Details here: Haleon to recall batches of some adult cough syrups due to contamination – SRN News
