Trees continue to topple

The strong winds continue to topple trees around Hall County Friday with at least two instances where they took down powerlines and causing problems for motorists.

There was one about 10:30 a.m. in the 3100 block of Gaines Mill Road. In that instance, it was apparently only powerlines that had fallen across the road.

A couple of hours later a section of Joe Chandler Road was shut down because of a downed tree and powerlines. The road was closed between East Hall High School and England Road.

However, a spokeswoman for Jackson EMC said Friday afternoon the electric co-op had not had an “significant outages today.”

Late in the afternoon , there were reports of a tree across Bryant Quarter Road near Poplar Springs Road.

Habersham County was having its share of problems, too. (See separate story.)
