There was another train-pedestrian accident on the southside of Gainesville overnight.
Details are sketchy and no information has been released concerning the victim or anything else. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) did issue a “traffic alert” warning motorists that the Dorsey Street crossing was closed but the all-clear was given around 3:00.
Because HCSO administrative offices are closed for the weekend it may be Monday morning before we know anything more. UPDATE: And early Saturday evening a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office confirmed that they don’t expect to release anything more until then.
It was the fourth train-pedestrian accident in that part of town since October. In two of those cases, the pedestrian was killed. In the other, a woman suffered a severe leg injury. Most have involved members of Gainesville’s homeless.
