Traffic stop yields 15 pds. of drugs; Sewage floods cells; 300+ new jobs

*Fifteen pounds of drugs were reportedly found recently in the dashboard of a car during northwest Georgia traffic stop and the driver is now behind bars. According to the Dade County Sheriff’s office, deputies discovered 13.2 pounds of cocaine and 2.2 pounds of fentanyl. The suspect, identified as Martin Antonio Nolasco-Guzman, a lawful permanent resident from Guatemala, told officers he has been living in Needville, Texas. WSB TV reports Nolasco-Guzman was charged with drug trafficking.

*A sewage backup recently flood south Georgia’s Stewart Detention Center, reportedly leaving some ICE detainees with restricted access to drinking water or showers. The AJC reports the private prison company that operates the lock-up says it has been facing a “plumbing issue” for almost a week.

*Hyundai Transys will invest nearly $560 million to expand its manufacturing capabilities in West Point. The company plans to create 320 new jobs as part of its ongoing efforts to support global automotive customers with operations in North America, according to an announcement this week by Gov. Kemp.
