Traffic stop leads to arrest of shoplifting suspect

A recent traffic stop by Flowery Branch Police ended with the arrests of a 42-year-old man wanted on a slew of shoplifting charges by Oakwood Police. The theft charges are from nearly three years ago.

“On 06//19/2021 at approximately 2300 hours, Officers responded to Walmart located at 3875 Mundy Mill Road in reference to a theft report,” Oakwood Police investigator Stewart Webb wrote in an email Tuesday. “Walmart Loss Prevention Officers informed Oakwood PD that they had been investigating Walmart Employee Clint Workley for internal theft and shoplifting.”

Sgt. Webb said a total of 34 items were taken between 02/2/2021 to 03/1/2021.

“Oakwood PD obtained a 34-count arrest warrant for the various thefts that occurred at the Oakwood Walmart location,” he added.

Fast forward to 2024 and “The Flowery Branch Police Department arrested him this year on a traffic stop for the drug and traffic charges,” Webb said. “Once he was booked in to Hall County our active warrants were attached to him.”

Hall County Jail records show Workley was arrested Friday. The traffic charges include Registration and License of Motor Vehicle and Stopping, Standing, Parking in Prohibited Specified Places. Drug charges include Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects.
