Traffic stop leads to arrest of Oakwood fugitive

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:

“Two suspects were arrested following a weekend traffic stop on Mountain View Road at 5th Street in Gainesville.

Kevin Leachman, 36, of Dahlonega, was driving a vehicle with suspended registration and no valid insurance when he was pulled over early Sunday morning by a Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputy. The deputy who made the traffic stop entered Leachman’s name and the name of his passenger Kelly Maxfield, 34, of Flowery Branch, into the database.

Leachman was on felony probation, so the deputy – and others who were called to the scene – conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search, deputies discovered in the center console two clear baggies containing suspected illegal narcotics as well as a pill comprised of a brown leafy substance.

Maxfield was wanted on a shoplifting warrant by Oakwood PD.

Leachman has been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute (approximately 27 grams), possession of MDMA (ecstasy) and possession of a hallucinogen (pill determined to be psilocybin). He is being held without bond at the Hall County Jail.

Maxfield is being held at the Hall County Jail on a $2,400 bond.

Both suspects were booked into the Hall County Jail just before 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26.”
